Google's smart home devices now support the Matter standard

I hope this gets stable soon as I use a lot of cast devices in several automations. I have a Google Home Mini and two chrome casts and none of them show up in the google home app unless I reboot my router. Then they will show up for around an hour before they disappear again. I have changed all the settings that I can think of in the modem, and even tried disabling 5G as my chrome casts are the original first version. I setup my the google_assistant component successfully a couple of months ago and all my sonoff devices displayed in their app and been very happily using.

Whether from system inconsistencies or an improper power supply, the device may put out different LED statuses - like the Google device blinking orange. While there are quite a few fixes to this issue, refreshing the system will do for now. Log in to the respective app stores to set up automatic updates.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Google Home App

Turn on Bluetooth on iOS devices and enable location on Android devices. If the problem persists, update the Google Home app and refresh the device. If none of these work, uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.

That way you make a change to a device and reboot it will automagically be update with google directly. I am hoping that this will keep my test app from expiring. To enable Bluetooth on your iOS device, open the Control Center and tap on the Bluetooth icon within the menu. The icon will turn BLUE once Bluetooth is enabled. If you're hosting the Google Home app on an iOS device, you will have to enable the Bluetooth services on your device.

How do I find my smart devices on Google Home?

We suggest adding a mesh router to help overcome this. The Matter standard can only simplify the use of smart home devices from various brands if products actually support it. Today, Google has announced that it has enabled Matter support for its Nest and Android devices — you don't even have to download or install any update. If nothing helps, consider resetting Google Nest/Home to its factory values.

In addition, the tech giant has updated the Nest Wi Pro, the Nest Hub Max and the Nest Hub to function as Thread border routers. That way, you can use them to connect products that support Thread, the networking protocol for low-power devices such as smart locks, to your home network. If your Google Home cannot find devices, check if both devices are connected to the same network and ready to pair.

Turn ON Bluetooth on Apple iOS Devices

Like most apps making use of connectivity services, the Google Home app does require access to location services to work. Turn on Local Network Access for the app you would like to allow access to your network. This will allow permissions for your device to discover Cast-enabled devices. Just tap on the plus icon in the top left corner. From there, tap “Set up device” and tap “Works with Google”. Locate the manufacturer, select it, and sign in with your credentials if asked.

Search and open the Google Home app and select Force Stop. In a similar manner, try to refresh the Google Home app too. Start by unplugging your Google/Nest device from the power supply.

And one such prelim is to check whether the device is ready to be configured. Google pretty much makes some of the best smart home gadgets on the planet. And their nifty little Home app eases up the integration part quite nicely.

Apart from checking and ensuring the optimal setting for the app, you might want to take a look at the Google device itself. In addition, you can try turning off or temporarily disabling other devices until you connect the one that bothers you. After that, things should go easier. Hello, after many searches I cannot find a solution to my issues with the control of ST using Google Assistant.

Enable Location Services on Android Devices

When I attempt to authorize devices via the Google Assistant menu, it shows me a list of my devices, but when the authorize process is done , it just shows zero devices. From memory now when I was setting up google assistant originally I got interrupted and then it was working so I never finished the article. If i recall correctly, 0.62 to 0.63 had issues because they overhauled the unique id for all media_player devices. I have version 0.63 of home assistant, and have noticed that my google home devices are no longer found. This happens to me periodically, but I can't figure out what triggers it. My router is Google WiFi, so if anything should work, that should!

Once you remove the app from your device, give your host device a refresh and proceed to reinstall the app. You can reinstall the app from the app store. Not to mention, uninstalling the app will wipe out all your personal preferences, logins, and devices thence setup. Without access to this service, the app fails to recognize devices in its proximity. Once you have enabled Bluetooth, hop back into the Home app and check the issue.

Nonetheless, a system refresh can get rid of any such temporal issues. If there is no such option within the app tab, your Google Home app is up to date. Now that you've taken care of the prereqs, let's start the troubleshooting procedure. Toggle the Use Location/Access Location option to enable the service.

A couple of months on and I have added a couple more new sonoffs to HA but they don’t show up in Google home app. Also I’ve called/emailed/chatted with google customer service over the last several months and they haven’t been able to fix it, but maybe Reddit is smarter than Google?
